Mookie Betts Hit in Hand, Dodgers Win

Dodgers' Mookie Betts Sustains Hand Injury

Betts Hit by Pitch, Leaves Game

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts left Tuesday's game against the Kansas City Royals after being hit by a 98-mph fastball in the seventh inning. Betts was struck on the hand by a pitch from Royals reliever Dan Altavilla and was diagnosed with a right hand contusion.

Betts is considered day-to-day and will be re-evaluated on Wednesday. The injury is not expected to be season-ending, but it could keep him out of the lineup for a few games. The Dodgers are currently in first place in the NL West with a 43-29 record.

"It's obviously not ideal," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. "But we're hopeful that it's not a long-term thing and that he'll be back in the lineup soon."

Betts is a key part of the Dodgers' lineup, batting .273 with seven home runs and 22 RBIs this season. He is also a Gold Glove outfielder.
